Happy Birthday Morgan!

Somebody turned one today!

She is growing up so fast!

Our wonderful friends/landlords came over tonight for birthday dinner.

Morgan enjoyed her "birthday cake."
It was the third time she has celebrated her birthday this month.
A rough life.

Our friends gave Morgan this little walker/stroller with a doll.

She sure is a chip off the ol' block.

Warning: Addiction

You may have noticed the side bar links to card making sites. I'm afraid I must confess to being a card-making addict. You see, we moved into this house a bit over a year ago (BTW, the longest we have ever lived in one place our whole married life - Erik swears we are not moving again until residency), and our landlords/wonderful friends live in the main part of the house. They are empty nesters, and have practically become a third set of grandparents to Morgan. What does this have to do with my new distraction? Well, upstairs in their house is a magical room full of pretty much every crafty tool you could ever need, along with reams of beautiful paper. I get giddy looking at it sometimes. *blush* All this has been placed at my disposal, to use whenever I want. I'm pretty sure we're not paying enough rent to cover that... Last Christmas my friend Louise (aka landlord) helped me make some cards for a Christmas present, and after that I was hooked. I still have much to learn and experiment with, but I'm getting much more confident. However, I am not terribly original - one reason I'll never be an author - so I have to keep browsing other crafty people's blogs to get ideas to use (in the card making community, it's called scraplifting, he he). Hence the growing list of idea blogs. I can't believe the amount of time and money people spend on this hobby. Erik has already tentatively wondered how we're going to fund future projects once we move away from Louise's scrapbooking store. I decided not to worry about that until the day comes - meanwhile, it is a wonderful creative outlet for a pretty uncreative person and gives me comfort when I'm doing the single parent thing.

Here a few older cards I helped make:

I just realized that pictures make it seem like a "look at how cool I am" moment. And maybe that was my subconscious desire... after all, you don't get much feedback from a 1-year old. However, I promise my conscious brain meant it as a "this is what I'm up to these days" moment. :)
