The Consummate Student

Tomorrow is Erik's last day in a classroom. He still has two years of rotations and untold years of residency left, but at least he will be practicing medicine instead of just learning about it. And of course, he still has a test tomorrow, a comprehensive two-year test on Wednesday, and Boards (another two-year comprehensive test) in June. Seem redundant, anyone? I just counted it up, and he has spent 20 of his 27 years in classrooms. Good luck in the great unknown, sweetie!

I should probably save these pictures for Father's Day, but they showcase Erik's favorite part of med school: coming home.

Laughter!

In other news Dallin H. Oaks randomly came to our church today. I met him in the hallway with the baby in one hand and a dirty diaper in the other. For some reason he didn't shake my hand. Lauren almost hit him while opening the door from the primary room. We don't think he will visit again soon.

Kissing

Morgan is getting more and more fun all the time. A friend was so right when she told me that six months is a magical time. We've seen her roll over onto her back a couple of times now, but it's not at all consistent; she still looks at us most of the time for rescue. She does this thing with Erik where he gives her kisses and then says "Give me loves" and she'll give him an open-mouth slobber on the cheek. Sometimes with tongue. She and Mommy may need to have a little chat. Your cheek is dripping drool by the end, but it's still one of the cutest things ever. It's definitely got its ups and downs, but being a mother is the best.

Superstar

Here are some of our little diva's latest moves:

-Rolling over all the time. If she is laid on her back, guaranteed she will roll to her stomach within 10 seconds. Even if she was just barely rescued from being stuck on her stomach. Diva, not genius.
-She can kick her way out of her sleeper's legs, so when we get her up in the morning she's often sucking on her toes with the legs of her sleeper behind her like a cape.
-Now that she's learned to roll over, she's taken it to a new level: rolling while nursing. Painful experience.
-She's discovering new parts of her body; she's known about her feet for a little while now, but recently she stuck her fingers in her ear and just today started pulling her hair instead of mine. I've caught her with her thumb in mouth a couple of times now, and I'm afraid it's just beginning.
-She likes her washcloth while bathing so much that she will dive for it. Now I understand the bathtub warning about drowning babies- she doesn't care how close she gets to the water as long as she emerges with washcloth in hand.
